West Side Little League - Eligibility Requirements & Registration

WSLL ELIGIBILITY & REGISTRATION

The Fall 2022 season will start on Saturday, September 10th and end on Sunday, November 20th, weather permitting.

REGISTRATION PROCEDURE: Registration is due to Open Wednesday, August 3rd at 12 noon. REGISTRATION WILL BE ON-LINE ONLY.
We strongly urge you to REGISTER AS SOON AS REGISTRATION OPENS on August 3rd so as not to be shut out.
Also, do not contact the League seeking information about schedule or field assignment. As soon as we have more information, we will post it here.

Registration: is OPEN, Play Ball!

Registration opened Wednesday, August 3rd at 12 noon!

This Fall we will be registering players in Co-Ed Baseball and Girls Softball. There is NO Challengers Special Needs Division in the Fall.

Registration Fee: $175 if you register by August 25th. After August 25th the fee is $225.
The Fee covers most of the cost of player and coach uniforms, team equipment, fields maintenance, umpires, administrative expenses, including League insurance costs and LL charter fees, and
scholarships.

Waitlists: When a division is filled – and only when it is filled – you will be offered the option of a waitlist. There is a $5 fee which is nonrefundable. If a place opens up on one of our teams, you will be notified, and the waitlist fee will be credited toward the registration fee.

Scholarship: No child will be denied the opportunity to play because of an inability to pay. If a family is unable to shoulder the entire registration fee, scholarships are available for part or all of the registration fee. When possible, families are asked to pay a portion of the fee. If you are requesting a scholarship, please email the League Registrar BEFORE registering. The Registrar will get back to you.

Refund Policy: A full refund is granted when a registered player withdraws for a valid medical reason with an accompanying doctor’s note. All other requests for a refund will be denied except under special circumstances as determined by league officials. A $25 processing fee will apply to ALL non-medical refunds. After uniforms have been distributed, no refunds will be given for any reason.

SPECIAL REQUESTS: If you have any special requests, it is important to enter them in the right place:
1. Team/Coach Requests: Requests relating to team, teammate, or coach, use the box entitled “Team/Coach Requests”. Please note, WSLL does not guarantee that team, teammate or coach requests will be fulfilled. Any request must be MUTUAL between ALL parties. If you are requesting that your child play with a friend, be sure that the friend requests your child as well.
2. Notes: For any other notes or special requests, use the box entitled “Notes”. Include player’s allergies and any special care instructions.

If you have any questions, not covered above, please contact the League Registrar.
WSLL Registration Fees, Scholarship, Wait-list & Refunds: WSLL FEES.
Divisions are grouped by age: WSLL DIVISION PLACEMENT.

WSLL ELIGIBILITY & REGISTRATION

West Side Little Leauge's ELIGIBILITY

Boundaries

Boundaries for participation in Little League can be found on the Little League website at Little League's League Finder. Players who live outside of these boundaries should contact the Little League in their area for more information.
NOTE: Exception to this rule is if your child attends school within our catchment area. A letter of proof from the school is required for new players who are claiming this exception.
In addition, we accept players from outside our boundaries in our Special Needs Challengers Division and may accept players from outside these boundaries in our Softball divisions. If you have questions about your eligibility, please contact the League Registrar.

Player Assignment

Player assignment is at the discretion of the Division Heads, who aim to create balanced teams and to encourage competitive play. We do not as a rule accomodate specific placement requests. However, we cannot guarantee placement for players who can only play on one weekend day.

Player Participation

Players who anticipate missing more than 2 games SHOULD NOT register for WSLL. If any player does register and misses more than 2 games, rules about player usage WILL NOT APPLY to that player. If any player misses one game without notifying their Coach at least 24 hours in advance, rules about player usage WILL NOT APPLY to that player. Returning players who register ON TIME AND ON LINE are given priority over new players, and over returning players who register late.

Equipment

All players must have their own mitts (WITH THEIR FULL NAME WRITTEN ON IT) and wear appropriate footwear-sneakers or plastic cleats (NO METAL CLEATS). The League provides bats, balls, team batting helmets & catcher's gear. If a player brings his/her own bat it must conform to Little League bat policy and be marked with the player's name. Below is a link to provide guidance in choosing an authorized bat: https://www.littleleague.org/playing-rules/bat-information/. Players can bring their own batting helmet for personal use but it must labeled "NOCSAE Approved" and be marked with the player's name. All male players ages 9 and up are required to wear an athletic supporter with protective cup.

League policy for players New to the League:
all New baseball players ages 10 and up must be evaluated before the start of the season. This is to insure the safety of players who are new to the league. If they cannot safely be placed on a team, they will receive a full refund.

Please contact the League Registrar if you have questions about your eligibility.
