West Side Little League - Eligibility Requirements & Registration

WSLL ELIGIBILITY & REGISTRATION

WELCOME TO OUR SPRING 2024 SEASON!

Registration opens Thursday, February 1st, at 12 Noon.

Registration is: OPEN at NOON

Registration opens Thursday, February 1st, at 12 Noon!

Registration for the Spring 2024 season opens Thursday, February 1st, at 12 Noon.
The spring 2024 season will start in late March or early April, and ends Sunday June 9th or the 16th, weather permitting.
Your child’s coach will contact you in mid-March with team assignment and exact schedule.

REGISTRATION IS ON-LINE ONLY and the fee must be paid by credit or debit card when you register. New users must create an account, but if your child previously played in the league, registering will be as easy as 1-2-3. Simply enter your email address and password to login. All your registration info is still there. Edit any fields that need to be updated. Pay and you are done.

IMPORTANT! PLEASE REGISTER RIGHT AWAY or else your child MAY NOT BE PLACED!
We fill up early—sometimes on the first day or two of registration--and, in the past, many children have been disappointed.

Registration Fee:
$295 for registrations between February 1st and March 3rd
$370 for registrations after March 3rd
Note: once a division is full, whether in February or March, registration for that division will be closed, period.

REGISTRATION FEES and POLICIES
Fees cover most of the cost of player and coach uniforms, team equipment, field maintenance, umpires, administrative expenses including League insurance costs and LL charter fees, and scholarships.

WAITLISTS: When a division is filled – and only when it is filled – you will be offered the option of a waitlist. There is a $5 fee which is nonrefundable. If a place opens on one of our teams, you will be notified, and waitlist fees will be credited toward the registration fee.

DIVISIONS AND AGE GROUPS
This spring we will be registering players in Co-Ed Baseball, Girls Softball, and our Challengers Special Needs program.

BOUNDARIES for participation in Little League can be found on the Finder page of the Little League website. Players who live outside of these boundaries should contact the Little League in their area for more information. NOTE: Exception to this rule is if your child attends school within our catchment area. A letter of proof from the school is required for new players who are claiming this exception. In addition, we accept players from outside our boundaries in our Special Needs Challengers Division and may accept players from outside these boundaries in our Softball divisions. Please email the League Registrar if you have questions about your eligibility.

SPECIAL REQUESTS: If you have any special requests, it is important to enter them in the right place:
1. Team/Coach Requests: Requests relating to team, teammate, or coach, use the box entitled “Team/Coach Requests”. Please note, WSLL does not guarantee that team, teammate or coach requests will be fulfilled. Any request must be MUTUAL between ALL parties. If you are requesting that your child play with a friend, be sure that the friend requests your child as well.
2. Notes: For any other notes or special requests, use the box entitled “Notes”. Include player’s allergies and any special care instructions.

New Player Policy: League policy for baseball players new to the league: All new baseball players ages 10 and up must be evaluated before the start of the Spring 2024 season. This is to ensure the safety of players who are new to the league. Note— Some new & inexperienced 10-year-olds will be placed in the 9’s division if they cannot be safely placed on a 10’s Middles team. Some new & inexperienced 11- & 12-year-olds will be placed in the 10’s middles division if they cannot be safely placed on a Majors team.

Uniforms & Equipment: In the Spring, the League provides full uniform—jersey, pants, socks, and cap.
All players must have their own mitts (WITH THEIR FULL NAME WRITTEN ON IT) and wear appropriate footwear--sneakers or plastic cleats (NO METAL CLEATS).
All male players ages 9 and up are required to wear an athletic supporter with protective cup.
Do NOT bring your own ball to the field. The League provides balls of appropriate hardness for the different age groups.

Boundaries

BOUNDARIES for participation in Little League can be found on the Little League website at Little League's League Finder.
If you have questions about your eligibility, please contact the League Registrar.

Player Assignment

Player assignment is at the discretion of the Division Heads, who aim to create balanced teams and to encourage competitive play. We do not as a rule accomodate specific placement requests. However, we cannot guarantee placement for players who can only play on one weekend day.

Player Participation

Players who anticipate missing more than 2 games SHOULD NOT register for WSLL. If any player does register and misses more than 2 games, rules about player usage WILL NOT APPLY to that player. If any player misses one game without notifying their Coach at least 24 hours in advance, rules about player usage WILL NOT APPLY to that player. Returning players who register ON TIME AND ON LINE are given priority over new players, and over returning players who register late.

Equipment

Uniforms & Equipment: In the fall, the League provides tee shirts and caps but not pants or socks.
If you buy your child a bat, it must be compliant with Little League Bat Rules.
If you buy your child a batting helmet, it must say NOCSAE on it, verifying that it is safe.
