9-10s Tournament Team end season

On behalf of the WSLL Board and our entire community, I take extreme pride in congratulating Coach Tag, his staff and the wonderfully talented West Side 9-10s Tournament team on a terrific and exciting tournament season!

We are very proud of this team -- District 23 Champions -- what a wonderful accomplishment!

These young players showed true sportsmanship throughout the District and Sectional tournament games. The team's grace and poise at their last (and only) loss was admirable, and I was very proud of them for trying their best -- at every game.

The team's seriousness on the field and their command of the game was remarkable. It is apparent that we can look forward to many years of exceptional baseball with this group and for that we are extremely happy (and grateful!).

WSLL 9-10s WIN advance to Section 3 Semi-final!!

District 23 Champions Westside 9-10s Defeated District 25 Champions
Roberto Clemente All Stars 13-1 To Advance To Section 3 Semi-final

July 31, 2004
Williamsburg,Brooklyn, New York

By the time Harrison Gross stole home in a cloud of dust with Westsides 13th
and final run of the game it was clear that Westside would be advancing to
the semi final of the sectional playoffs for the first time in it's history.

Westside opened an offensive assault in the first inning scoring 10 times on
6 hits including 4 line drive doubles in the power alleys erasing the
Roberto Clemente home field advantage.

David Kagan led off the game with a scorching two strike double to get the Westies rolling. He also scored twice in the inning. He was followed by Jarobi Moorhead and Matthew Nunez who also crushed Clemente pitching for doubles and also scored twice. Moorhead was 3-3 including a super sonic shot off the fence at the 200FT sign in right center.

The Westside defense was once again flawless and Kagan allowed only one
unearned run while striking out 6. In the 4 inning mercy rule shortened game.

Westside faces District 24 (Staten Island) in the semi finals. The game will be played on Monday 8/2 at 5:30PM at the Elmsford Field (West Rumbrook)

Thank you to those of you who have come out and supported the team. Let's
get a big turnout for this next one!
