WSLL Newark Bears Game

SAT MAY 17, 2003 6:05PM

In just about the best seats in the house, the intrepid families who braved the cold last Saturday had a wonderful time at Riverfront Stadium watching the Newark Bears vs the Pennsylvania Road Warriors.

The Bears were in fine form as they shut out the Pennsylvania Road Warriors, 6-0. The starting pitcher (Wagner) allowed only one hit to earn the victory. The right-hander struck out seven batters and did not walk any. It was also pretty exciting watching Rickey Henderson playing Left Field for the Bears and batting leadoff.

We had terrific seats, right behind home plate! The West Side families who attended the game received a free Stop & Shop Championship Posters and the kids were able to meet players from both teams and get autographs on their posters or the many fly balls we were able to catch. The highlight of the game for us happened at the end of the 5th inning when three of our players were able to participate in the ?Hot-Dog? race!
