Pepsi Pitch, Hit & Run Event

WEST SIDE LITTLE LEAGUE SKILLS SHOWCASE SATURDAY MAY 10, 2003
103rd STREET FIELDS IN RIVERSIDE PARK 4:30 PM TIL DARKNESS

OVERVIEW:
• PITCH, HIT & RUN is a FREE program for youngsters ages 7-14.
• It allows youngsters to showcase their pitching, hitting, & running abilities.

PITCH: Throw pitches at a designated "Strike Zone" target
HIT: Hit from a stationary tee for distance & accuracy
RUN: Run from second base to home plate for time

• HIT & RUN events use conversion tables to convert distance & time into a composite point total.

WHO MAY PARTICIPATE:
• All boys and girls ages 7-14 competing together in four different age groups (7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14).
• Age is determined by deadline date of July 17, 2003.

WHERE AND WHEN THE EVENT WILL BE HELD*:
• Saturday, May 10, 2003, commencing at 4:30 pm at the 103rd Street ballfields in Riverside Park.
• Event will continue until darkness. Registrants may show up at anytime while the event is ongoing. If we have a large turnout, however, it is possible that late-shows may not complete the three events.

HOW TO REGISTER:
• Forms will be available at the event on Saturday, or you can contact the Registrar to obtain a form before Saturday. The registration form requires a parent's signature. Registrants are encouraged to bring a copy of their birth certificate or equivalent proof of age.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:

• VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED - to set up and to serve as officials/scorers. Call or e-mail Foster Gibbons as soon as possible.

PRIZES/AWARDS:
• All youngsters competing at the Local level receive an item for their participation.
• Prizes for age group champions include ribbons, plaques, trophies, and other awards.
• National Finalists receive a trip to Chicago for the 2003 All-Star Game.


SPECIAL NOTE: WHILE FOLLOWING THE DESIGN OF THE 2003 PEPSI PITCH, HIT & RUN COMPETITION DESCRIBED ABOVE, WEST SIDE LITTLE LEAGUE HAS NOT COMMITTED TO SEEKING TO HAVE ITS SKILLS SHOWCASE EVENT SANCTIONED AS A LOCAL COMPETITION. IF OFFICIAL STATUS IS NOT SOUGHT, COMPETITORS IN OUR EVENT WILL NOT QUALIFY FOR ADVANCEMENT TO THE SECTIONAL OR REGIONAL COMPETITIONS.
